Re-organizing

Spring is in the air…

And after nearly two years of parental leave, I’m back at work. It’s a weird feeling, coming back to the colleagues (who haven’t changed) and tasks (which are still something we need to do REALLY SOON!). Old problems resurface and I find myself struggling to defend myself against the negativity going around in these halls. There has been a change in the top management and hence there is a lot of insecurity and anger going around. It’s so easy to fall back into old ways and routines, especially since these work-related themes are the one thing I can connect with my colleagues about. But the longer I’m back, the more I realize that I’m really through with these feelings. I don’t want them anymore.

Our new kitchen

Boy, did I think long on the title of this post. “Kitchen of the heart”, “A kitchen to relax in”, “We did it” or some other oversized title came to mind and all felt stupid or corny and so I just settled for simplicity. You can never really go wrong with that 😉

The kitchen was as old as the flat itself and hadn’t been renovated at all – but it was absolutely working, despite being something like 40 years old. It had a ridiculously loud and old fridge which we exchanged within one week but the rest was working just fine, so we just left everything as it was. Which was like this:

The Look.

6vhjBlogging 101’s assignment for today was to try out at least three different themes, one of which we don’t like at all and one of which we do really like. Since I’ve been dabbling on and off with my theme, widgets, pictures and whatnot for the last few weeks before settling on my current theme, Adelle, I wasn’t too keen on trying out too many. But while browsing through the theme options, a few caught my eye nonetheless.

As you can see, though, I’ve stayed with Adelle – but I’ll work on my header and background; so it wasn’t for nothing, I can tell you that! Continue reading

The crazy life with twins

IMG_9898_kl

“Oh, how cute! Are they twins?” – “No, they’re a beagle and a crate of beer.”

No, that’s not an actual conversation, but sometimes I wish I had the guts to say that. Honestly, that’s the most-heared question twin parents get. But at the same time, the question is always asked with such a joy and a smile that it’s hard to be sarcastic in the face of a stranger. People love twins! Really, they do! And they always have a story about twins themselves or just a comment.
