Oh Time, where art thou? I feel bad about not blogging but somehow time just keeps running away from me. So many things have been happening – a baby shower for a friend, out summer celebration: a wonderful weekend full of love and awesomeness, the twin’s first birthday, cleaning, sport and thinking and planning. Bear with me and I’ll tell you all about it in the next few days. For today, let me show you what we were up to this last weekend.
For a few years, Leander and two of his friends were planning a LARP every summer. Just a small gathering of about 30 people, acting, camping and LARPing for a weekend on a beautiful little camping site near our home. Due to work, kids and other changes in all of our lives, it wasn’t possible to do it but we really wanted to do *something* with all of our friends. As probably all of you know, sometimes it is so hard to just meet everyone and relax together. Every-day-life sometimes reeeeeally is in the way. Not this year, we said. And so we sat together a few months back and started planning. We didn’t want to make it all fancyful and overwhelming and so we just sent out an invitation for everyone to join us at this weekend, to camp and hang out, eat and talk and laugh and have fun. We provided for water, coffee, tea and breakfast (and the place of course) but basically everyone was responsible for their own food. There was a grill and of course a fireplace, so it was no problem to just barbecue something.
As the weekend neared, I got more and more anxious and watched the weather news. We’ve been having a wonderful and beautiful summer so far but of course for last weekend the prognosis was: thunderstorms and rain in between the sunny hours. We arrived Friday morning with a cloudy sky but at least there was no rain. It was starting to get hot, so we didn’t worry too much.
And I must say – it was good that we didn’t worry because we had no reason whatsoever. Around midday the sky cleared up and from then on it was sun sun sun. We had the most beautiful summer weather, perfect for camping and being outside. ♥
We had hammocks and tents, fire and blankets, food en masse and the most beautiful site ever. There was no stress, just relaxation, fun, quiet, napping, talking, laughing and singing, with the most wonderful, awesome and lovely people in the world.
The nights were full of stars and sparks and fire, soft songs and meditative staring into the flames.
It was, all in all, a perfect weekend – which started a tradition, as we all agreed. You know what is the best thing about these weekends? Apart from the fun you have, I mean? It made me realize again just how lucky I am. I am surrounded by wonderful, wonderful people that I love and that love me back. There is not always the need for deep conversations, sometimes it’s just enough to be together.
